The imperial crown (Fritillaria imperialis) is a magnificent addition to the flowerbed, especially during the flowering period. Once planted, this perennial and hardy flowering plant also provides effective protection against voles in the garden.
When is the imperial crown's bloom time?
The flowering period of the imperial crown (Fritillaria imperialis) extends from April to May. To best show off its magnificent yellow or orange flowers, it should be planted in a sunny to slightly shady location with well-drained or well-drained soil.
Magnificent flowers in spring and early summer
So that the imperial crown can collect enough energy to produce flowers, it should be planted in the garden for the first time taking into account the following factors:
- Planting time from July to September
- sunny to slightly shady location
- permeable soil or soil with a drainage layer (otherwise there is a risk of rot)
If these requirements are met, then the imperial crown requires relatively little care in order to develop its beautiful flowers every year in April and May.
Tips & Tricks
With its yellow or orange flowers, the imperial crown looks particularly impressive when surrounded by the green of earlier or later flowering plants with a lower height. Since the withering flower stalks should not be cut back completely immediately after flowering, other plants can also obscure the view.
