What to do if the leaves of the golden fruit palm are dry?
Dry leaves on a golden fruit palm can be caused by air that is too dry, waterlogging, a location that is too dark, a chalky substrate or irrigation water and spider mites. To treat it, you can water the palm tree properly, adjust the location, fight spider mites and cut off dried leaves.

Proper watering of the golden fruit palm
The golden fruit palm needs a lot of moisture, especially in summer. You must therefore water them regularly and thoroughly. However, the Areca palm cannot tolerate waterlogging at all. Never leave water standing in the saucer or planter.
The irrigation water should be low in lime and room temperature. Water that is too hard and cold causes the leaves to turn brown.

Gold fruit palms like it bright, but do not tolerate direct sun well in summer. If the sunlight is too high, the palm tree reacts with dried, brown or yellow leaves.
In winter, the golden fruit palm prefers a sunny location, but not directly behind a pane of glass.
Identify and treat spider mites
Spider mites mainly occur when the humidity is very low. Prevent this by spraying the fronds with water often.
An infestation can be recognized by small webs located on the leaf axils. They are easy to see when you wet the leaves with water.
If possible, you should place an infected Areca palm in the shower and rinse carefully. Then place them isolated from other plants. Sticks (€10.00 on Amazon) that are inserted into the ground have proven to be effective chemical control agents. They are available from specialist retailers.
Cut off dried leaves
If only the tips of the leaves are brown, you can cut them off. If a large part of the leaf has dried out, wait until the frond is completely dry. Then cut it off so that only a small stub remains on the trunk of the golden fruit palm.
Tip
Diseases are not common in golden fruit palms. It is almost always a case of care errors when the palm tree suffers from root or trunk rot.
