Why does my loquat have red spots?
Red spots on loquat leaves can be caused by drought stress, incorrect care or leaf browning. Preventive measures include: correct location, adequate watering and good ventilation, as well as quick removal of affected leaves and use of fungicide in case of infestation.

Drought stress
When the ground freezes in winter, the roots cannot absorb water. The plants lose moisture through evaporation. This process is enhanced by direct sunlight. As a result, a water deficit arises, which means drought stress for the plant. This is manifested by wine-red dots and spots on the leaves, which, depending on their extent, can spread to a limited extent or over the entire leaf surface.
You can prevent drought stress by paying attention to the optimal location when planting the trees. Loquats prefer a place to grow in mild winter areas without long-lasting frosts. Although numerous varieties of loquat are offered as hardy, they are sensitive to permanent frost. Protect the root ball with pine branches, brushwood or fleece. Before winter, water the plant thoroughly so that it can replenish its water reserves.
Incorrect care measures
Loquats don't need much water. They only need to be watered when the top layer of soil has dried out. If there are long dry periods in summer, the water requirement increases. The plant loses more water than usual due to the dry air. If it is not watered regularly, it will lead to heat-related drought stress.
In summer, make sure your shrubs get enough water. The soil dries out more quickly because the warm air can absorb more water. This means the roots receive less water. A penetrating watering provides relief.

Remove affected leaves and spray the entire plant with a fungicide containing copper sulfate. To strengthen the plant, regularly mix a decoction of field horsetail into the irrigation water. When planting your garden, make sure that the bushes are not too close together.
