When the first flakes gently fall in winter, it is a lot of fun to make Advent room decorations together with the family. You can find the materials for our DIY idea in your own garden or on a long walk in the forest. Our wreath also doesn't need any needling greenery and can therefore still be used next year.

How do I make an Advent wreath out of pineapples?

To make an Advent wreath out of pineapples, you need a wicker wreath, at least 60 pineapples, ribbon, hot glue gun and paint spray. Clean the cones, spray them with paint, let them dry, then glue them to the wreath.

What are pine apples?

Pine apples are not fruits, but rather the cones of pine trees. These trees are called pine trees or pine trees in some regions because of their very sticky resin. Their wood was once cut into pine shavings, which were used to light firewood.

Material list for a pine apple wreath

  • Willow wreath as scaffolding
  • at least 60 pineapples
  • Bow Ribbon
  • Hot glue gun
  • Paint spray cans in different tones. For example, the combination of gold and classic red or white, green and red looks very festive.
  • Gloves
  • Covering material for the substrate

If you want to add lights to the wreath, you will need four holders and candles that match the color of the pine cones.

Craft instructions

  • Clean the cones thoroughly. If necessary, let it dry a little.
  • Protect an outdoor work area with covering material.
  • Remove the safety cap from the spray cans and shake them well.
  • Put on gloves.
  • Lay out the cones on the base and spray them all at once. This creates a beautiful vintage look.
  • Alternatively, you can apply the color opaquely by spraying each pine cone individually from all sides.
  • Let the paint dry thoroughly.
  • If desired, divide the wreath into four parts using ribbon and tie a decorative bow.
  • Attach the cones with the hot glue gun (€9.00 on Amazon). Don't skimp on the glue so that the pine cones hold securely.
  • Let everything dry thoroughly.

Tip

Preferably use LED real wax candles without an open flame. Since the pine cones catch fire easily, you should never leave this Advent wreath burning unattended if you choose traditional lights.
