How does garlic help against whitefly?
Garlic can be used successfully against whiteflies by making a decoction of finely chopped garlic and boiling water, allowing it to cool and then spraying the infected plants with it. Alternatively, basil, mint or nettle can also help as plant neighbors in the bed.
Make garlic stock
Save yourself the money on expensive sprays from specialist retailers. A garlic bulb can usually be found in every kitchen cupboard. The production is very easy. See for yourself:
- Three large garlic cloves finely chopped
- Put the cubes in a pot
- Pour three liters of boiling water over it
- Let it steep for at least half an hour (even better, a full 60 minutes)
- Garlic pieces with a fish from the broth
- Strain the broth
- Let everything cool down thoroughly.
- Pour the liquid into a spray bottle.
- Spray the affected plant with the essence.
- The garlic broth is suitable for use in greenhouses.
Note: Be sure to isolate the affected plant from neighboring plants during treatment. Otherwise, the pests may move to surrounding plants. Do not return the plant to its usual place until you are sure that all the whiteflies have disappeared.
Plants with similar effects

You don't even have to boil these alternatives. They also develop their effective aroma as suitable plant neighbors in the bed.
