How to create a trellis for raspberries?
A trellis for raspberries can be created with either cross-stretched wire cords, wire mesh or knotted trellises. Stable stakes are inserted into the ground to which the cords or grid are attached. The raspberry canes are fixed to the structure at regular intervals to ensure sufficient light and space for optimal growth.
Pulling raspberries on the trellis
Raspberry bushes form many canes. However, if too many shoots grow on a plant, the individual canes and fruits do not receive enough light and sun.
The rods are therefore attached to a scaffold so that they are not too close and are better exposed to the sun.
On the trellis you have the best opportunity to tie the canes next to each other so that the plants don't get too sprawling.

The classic espalier method

Trellis for autumn raspberries
A trellis for autumn raspberries can be made from simple wire mesh or knotted trellises, such as those used in construction.
You install four mounting pillars, two at the end of each row. Connect the two posts with a crossbeam. Attach the wire mesh or knotted mesh to the crossbeam.
The autumn raspberries can now easily grow through the openings in the wire mesh or trellis. Here too, you should not leave too many canes per plant.
Ensure robust trellises
Bearing raspberry canes can develop considerable weight. Make sure the trellis structure is sturdy enough to support the weight.
Tips & Tricks
Raspberries are well suited to growing on a trellis on the house wall. Since they do not form their own tendrils, the masonry is not affected. However, you must ensure that air can circulate between the wall and the plant to prevent fungal diseases from spreading.
