Parsley is actually a very robust herb that requires little care. However, parsley is also a real diva among herbs. It will only thrive if you plant it in a favorable location. Then illnesses can have little effect on her.
What diseases occur in parsley and how can they be treated?
Common parsley diseases include root rot, stem rot, parsley wilt and powdery mildew. To avoid this, you should care for the parsley in a suitable location, in loose soil and with careful watering. If infested, it is often advisable to remove the plant and reseed.

Symptoms cannot always be clearly assigned

Rotting roots and leaves

To prevent the occurrence of rot diseases, choose a good location for the parsley. It must not be grown on beds where other umbelliferous plants have grown in the last three years.

Mildew on parsley
Mildew is caused by a fungus whose spores settle on the leaves and cause a grayish coating.
The reason is usually that the parsley is too dense and therefore offers ideal conditions for the fungus to spread.
Mildew is particularly severe when the leaves are permanently moist. Therefore, only water the parsley from below.

If the parsley in the garden or on the balcony is affected by a disease, it usually makes sense to pull up the plant and dispose of it with household waste. Re-sowing and planting in a suitable location are the best measures against parsley diseases.
