Which location is best for daylilies?
The ideal location for daylilies is sunny or partially shaded and not necessarily protected from the wind. Optimal soil is loamy, slightly sandy, loose, well-drained, moderately dry to fresh and has a moderate nutrient and humus content. Dark daylily varieties prefer partial shade to prevent flowers from fading.
The sunnier, the more willing to bloom
This plant is extremely undemanding in terms of location and soil. It can thrive in both a sunny and partially shaded location. A place sheltered from the wind is not necessarily necessary.
If you planted your daylily in an inappropriate location, you can easily transplant it later. This should best be done during their rest period in winter or early spring.
The right floor
The soil for the daylily should ideally be loamy and slightly sandy. Other beneficial soil features include:

- good drainage
- moderately dry to fresh environment
