Wet meadows can offer a fantastic sight from spring to early summer when the meadowfoam blooms profusely. Unfortunately, this sight is becoming increasingly rare, so that this wild herb is already under protection in some federal states.
When is the meadowfoam flowering time?
The flowering period of the meadowfoam extends from the end of March to June. During this time, the delicate white, pink or pale purple flowers appear on wet meadows, riparian forests or even lawns.
The non-poisonous meadowfoam blooms in delicate white, pale pink or light purple from around the end of March until June. It prefers to grow on nutrient-rich wet meadows or riparian forests, but can also be found on many lawns.
Like the other types of foam herb, its slightly spicy taste makes it ideal for use in herbal cooking. However, because of its stomach-irritating effects, it should only be consumed in small quantities.
The most important things in brief:
- Flower color white, pink or pale purple
- Flowering period from end of March to June
- loves moist soil
- Edible flowers and herbs
Tip
If you want to eat the meadowfoam, it is best to harvest it before it blooms, otherwise its taste will be slightly bitter.
