The seeds of the ornamental garlic ripen at different times depending on the variety. Ornamental allium plants that bloom beautifully in May produce ripe seeds in July/August. Others that only bloom in August formed their seeds in the fall.
Check the seeds before harvesting! Are they light brown or even green? Then they are not ripe yet! They must be black in color. It is best to sow them immediately. Otherwise you should store them in a dry and dark place. They remain viable for 3 years.
