Dipladenia is relatively easy to propagate if you provide the right conditions when growing your cuttings. Growing young plants may even be easier for you than overwintering old plants.
How do you grow Dipladenia cuttings successfully?
To grow Dipladenia cuttings, you should cut fresh or slightly woody shoots (7-10 cm long) below a leaf node, remove lower pairs of leaves, place them in disinfected potting soil and under foil or in a room greenhouse at at least 23 °C and allow it to root with even moisture.
How to cut the cuttings
You can grow your new Dipladenias, also known as Mandevilla, from cut shoots that are left over from pruning, but you can also cut extra cuttings. To ensure that no pathogens can be transferred to the cuttings, always use clean cutting tools. Cut off fresh or slightly woody shoots about seven to ten centimeters long below a leaf node and remove the lower pairs of leaves.
Growing cuttings
For good rooting, your cuttings need optimal conditions, which you can easily provide them with an indoor greenhouse (€24.00 on Amazon). Alternatively, cover the cultivation pots with a transparent plastic bag or foil, which you only remove after successful root formation. If you like, disinfect the potting soil or the peat-sand mixture before inserting the cuttings in the oven at 180 °C. About 10 minutes is enough.
During rooting, the cuttings require a temperature of at least 23 °C and constant humidity of the air and soil. It is therefore best to place the cultivation pots in an indoor greenhouse or pull a film or a plastic bag - both of which should be transparent - over the pots and place them in a bright place without direct sunlight so that the new leaves do not burn straight away.

Tip
Make sure there is even heat and humidity during cultivation, otherwise your cuttings will not root well.
