In our latitudes, the violet tree is grown less as a houseplant, but primarily as a container plant for balconies and terraces. Overwintering it properly is not easy. This is how you overwinter the violet tree properly.
How do I overwinter a violet tree correctly?
In order to overwinter the violet tree properly, it should be placed in a bright location at 10-15 °C, watered sparingly and not fertilized. Make sure there is sufficient humidity and avoid frost and waterlogging.
Winter violet tree properly
The violet tree is not hardy and cannot tolerate any frost temperatures. You must therefore bring it into the house in good time in autumn and overwinter in a suitable place.
The location must be very bright. Temperatures must not fall below 10 degrees. But it shouldn't get warmer than 15 degrees. Make sure there is sufficient humidity and ventilate the winter location more often.
The violet tree is not fertilized during the winter. Water it sparingly so that the root ball does not dry out completely. Avoid waterlogging as the plant will then die.
Tip
The violet tree (Tibouchina) comes from Brazil. If cared for well, it produces beautiful flowers in various shades of purple. It is also sold in stores as a princess flower.
