How do I build a garden table out of pallets myself?
To build a garden table out of pallets, you need one or two sturdy pallets, squared timber for the legs, screws, sander, paint and brush as well as a (cordless) screwdriver. After sanding and painting the pallets, attach the table legs and pay attention to stability and safety.
Where do you get pallets for the garden table?
You can use any pallet that is still intact and has no broken or cracked slats. In commercial areas you will often find companies that have a lot of pallets that are no longer needed lying around. You can simply ask there.
Sometimes used pallets are offered for self-collection in the classified ads in the newspaper or online. If necessary, you can of course also buy new Euro pallets. Then the garden table will be a little more expensive.

Prepare pallets
You must prepare the pallets before assembly. The wood is often very rough, so you can easily get splinters. Therefore, sand the pallet carefully beforehand.
Then paint the palettes in the desired color. A coat of paint also makes sense because the paint protects the wood from the effects of the weather.
Pay attention to stability and safety
When assembling the garden table from pallets, make sure that all screws are sunk on the surface. The table legs must be screwed together very well so that the garden table can later bear sufficient weight.
It is easier to keep a garden table made of pallets clean if you attach a thin sheet of Plexiglas (€11.00 on Amazon) to the surface. You can get such plates at the hardware store. There they can be cut to the required dimensions if desired.
