There is a person sitting on a bench with shoes and jeans but she has no upper body at all! Plants protrude from the hull. Planted jeans evoke attention and amazement. It's not difficult at all to plant a pair of jeans. In the following instructions you will find out how to do it.
How can I use jeans as a planter?
To plant a pair of jeans, you will need a pair of jeans, a pair of shoes, wooden slats, a small chipboard, filler, gravel, screws, a flower pot and tools such as a cordless drill and saw. Follow the steps: cut wood, shape legs, put on jeans, make hip and plant.
Giving shape to jeans
The jeans are not completely filled with soil, that would be a waste and lead to the jeans rotting. Instead, you can fill it with cuddly toy filling material (€15.00 on Amazon), Styrofoam or construction foam and give it the desired shape - only up to the base of the buttocks, because there must be room for the plants here. Or you can do it like in our instructions.
Planting your jeans step by step: instructions
Material
- Jeans
- a pair of shoes
- two wooden slats in leg length
- a small chipboard
- old fabric, styrofoam, water noodle, insulating tube or similar
- Construction foam or cement or a strong adhesive
- gravel
- Screws for wood
- Flower pot with saucer
Tool
- Cordless drill
- Saw
1. Cutting wood
If you want your jeans to fit, the wood is sawn into two parts at knee height and then screwed together at a 90° angle. If you want the jeans to stand, you can save yourself this step. Then screw the small chipboard onto the two wooden slats. The wooden slats should be hip-width apart. The chipboard should be small enough to fit into the jeans (hips area) but large enough to serve as a base for the flower pot.
2. Make legs
Now add muscle and flesh to the legs by wrapping them with scraps of fabric, Styrofoam or insulating parts.
3. Get dressed
Pull the jeans over your legs and hold them together at the top with clips or something similar so that they cannot slip underneath. Then insert the wooden slats into the bottom of the shoes, glue or cement them in place and then fill them completely with gravel or cement (rub the base well with oil so that the shoes don't stick to it!). Support your jeans until the glue or cement is thoroughly dry!
4. Making hips
Place the flower pot and saucer on the wooden platform. Now stabilize your hips. It is best formed from construction foam, but you can also shape it using glue and a filling material.
Tip
It's easier and more stable if you put your jeans on. This means that the wooden slats need to carry significantly less weight. If the jeans are to stand up, the wooden slats should be significantly stronger than if they just sit.
