Anyone who was spoiled by a splendor of flowers in the garden in the summer will definitely want to have a lot of flowering plants in their beds in the fall too. Autumn begins in September, which offers many magnificent flowering plants that, even if they are only planted now, will still bloom.
Which plants bloom in autumn?
Autumn bloomers such as autumn monkshood, autumn anemone, forest aster, cushion aster, golden hair aster, smooth-leaf aster, marigold, torch lily, autumn daisy and Japanese toad lily ensure a colorful variety of flowers in your garden during the autumn months.
What blooms in autumn?
At the beginning of autumn, autumn classics such as asters and daisies are offered in all colors in the garden centers. With these potted plants you can quickly create a beautiful autumnal atmosphere in the garden. However, it becomes more varied if you equip your perennial bed with different autumn bloomers. Persistent and winter-hardy plants can be found in specialist nurseries.

Planting the flowering perennials
Before the perennials can go into the ground, the location must be well prepared. The soil is loosened and all weeds are thoroughly removed. Then about half a bucket of compost (€12.00 on Amazon) and two handfuls of horn shavings can be added to each square meter. Then the plants can be planted. The different location needs must be taken into account.
- Water the perennials shortly before planting them by submerging the root ball in water.
- Dig a planting hole; it should definitely be larger than the root ball.
- If necessary, add a drainage layer of gravel or expanded clay to the hole.
- Insert the plant.
- Fill the hole with soil and press it down well.
- Water the new plant well.
- Protect the fresh plant from snail damage.
- Water regularly in the near future and remove weeds.
