An eggplant plant is often considered an annual plant because it is not hardy. She doesn't feel comfortable even at temperatures below + 15 °C. Therefore, overwintering the egg tree in the garden is out of the question.
How should you overwinter the egg tree?
To overwinter the egg tree successfully, place the plant in a bright room with at least 6 hours of light, a temperature of 15-18 ° C, no fertilizer and reduced watering. After harvesting, cut the eggplant plant back by half.
How should an egg tree overwinter?
As soon as the daytime temperatures fall below 20 °C and/or the night temperatures fall below 15 °C in late summer or early autumn, it is time to move the egg tree to a bright, warm winter quarters. Until the end of the harvest, continue to care for the eggplant plant as before. Then limit watering. The eggplant doesn't need any fertilizer in winter.
The ideal winter storage:
- bright, with at least 6 hours of light every day
- warm at approx. 15 °C to 18 °C
- do not fertilize
- water little to moderately
- after harvesting all the fruits, cut the plant back by about half

Don't put your eggplant plant completely outside again in spring when the night temperatures are reliably above 15 °C.
