The lunar morning glory is perennial when overwintered appropriately. But what do you have to pay attention to in order to be able to enjoy the beautiful flowers the following year? We will inform you about the optimal conditions.
How do I overwinter a lunar morning glory?
To overwinter the moonshine successfully, cut it back to 20 cm, choose a cool location with 10-15°C, maintain reduced watering behavior and note that the plant loses its foliage at higher temperatures or loses its leaves in cold weather.
Measures for overwintering the lunar winds
You should carry out the following steps for species-appropriate wintering:
pruning
Cut the moonshine back to a height of 20 cm before it moves into winter quarters.
Selection of location
Overwinter the lunar winds in a cool location. Temperatures of 10°C to 15°C are optimal. In these still relatively mild temperature conditions, the plant even retains its foliage. As long as temperatures do not fall below 0°C, colder wintering is also possible. In this case, the lunar winds shed their leaves completely.
Tip
The ornamental plant sprouts again in January in a bright spot.
Watering behavior
You should also water the substrate in winter, but limit the water to an amount that does not allow the root ball to dry out.
