Soil stains are annoying on light-colored clothing. In order to completely remove the residue, you should take a closer look at the stain. Red-brown and black discolorations are treated with different products before washing.
How can soil stains be effectively removed?
To remove soil stains, use gall soap for black stains, rust remover or citric acid for reddish stains, toothpaste for white clothing, vinegar as a mild alternative and bleach for stubborn stains on white fabrics.
This helps against soil stains:
- Gall soap: as an all-rounder
- Rust remover: against stubborn stains
- Citric acid: as a natural alternative
- toothpaste: for white clothes
- Vinegar: a mild variant
- bleach: if nothing helps anymore
Galle soap
The natural product consists of curd soap and bovine bile, which contains s alts and acids. It has been forgotten due to the wide selection of stain removers, although it has a wide range of uses. Gall soap is mainly used to pre-treat black soil stains. Red-brown residue cannot be removed.
Rust Remover
If reddish spots appear on fabrics, these are clay-containing soil residues. The color comes from iron oxides, which must be treated accordingly. Rust stain removers, which are available in the detergent section of many drugstores, are suitable for pre-treatment.
Citric Acid
The juice of this citrus fruit contains acid that is effective against reddish earth spots. Rub the discoloration thoroughly with pure lemon juice and allow it to take effect. Then rinse the fabric with clean water and wash textiles as usual.
Toothpaste
If you don't have rust remover on hand, you can use toothpaste containing fluoride. This product should only be used on white textiles and fabrics. Put a drop of toothpaste on the stain and rub the mixture in gently. Leave the paste on overnight and then rinse out the residue with water.
Vinegar
Put a few splashes of vinegar essence in a bowl filled with water and place the fabric in it. Test beforehand whether the clothing can survive this treatment without any problems. Vinegar is slightly milder than citric acid and is effective against rust-like soil stains.
bleach
Stubborn soil stains on white textiles can be pre-treated with a bleaching detergent or baking powder. For colored clothing, carpets and shoes, you should use a mild bleach with “color” added. Dissolve the powder in water and rub the stain. After allowing it to take effect for several hours, wash items of clothing as usual. Shoes and carpets are cleaned with a damp cloth.
