The daisy family also stands for positive values such as love and loy alty, which is why it is often given as a gift on various occasions. But when are gerberas actually in season?
When is Gerbera season?
Gerbera is in season all year round as it is mainly produced and exported in the Netherlands. It can be combined with seasonal flowers such as anemones, calla lilies, hydrangeas, dahlias and sunflowers. As a pot plant it blooms from May to October.

In fact, the gerbera is in season all year round and is available in flower shops. Your florist can sell them to you fromJanuary to December and give you good tips on how to keep the flowers in the vase fresh for as long as possible.
This long delivery time is possible because the gerbera is mainlyproduced in the Netherlands. Our neighbors grow and export around 900 million of the beautiful flowers in around 600 different varieties every year. Gerbera comes into our stores fresh due to the short transport routes.
How can you combine gerberas to suit the season?
However, unlike gerberas, many other popular flower species only have a limited season. It is therefore advisable to combine bouquetsappropriate to the season. By the way: Roses are also available all year round and harmonize perfectly with gerberas.

When is the gerbera in the pot or garden in season?
Cultivated as a pot plant, the gerbera naturally does not bloom throughout the entire season from January to December. If you want to grow the gerbera yourself as a cut flower - either as an annual summer flower in the bed or as a perennial in a pot - you cannot use its flower stalks all year round.
Nevertheless, the flower scores with a particularly long blooming period: in the right location and with good care, the gerbera tirelessly produces new flowers betweenMay and October. However, in the winter months you should give a potted gerbera arest break.

How to extend the flowering period of the gerbera
So that the gerbera keeps producing new flowers in the garden bed or plant pot, you should help a little. This includes fertilizing the plants every 14 days between April and September with a (liquid) flowering plant fertilizer. You should also cut off spent stems to encourage the flower to produce new flowers.
