The Tamarillo, also known as the tree tomato, is native to South America. It cannot tolerate temperatures below zero degrees. In winter it therefore needs a cool, light-flooded place in the house or winter garden.
How do I properly overwinter a tamarillo?
To overwinter a tamarillo successfully, it should be kept in a bright room at at least 5 degrees Celsius and watered sparingly. Fertilizer is not necessary during the winter break, and heavy pruning promotes bushier growth.

Getting Tamarillo through the winter
During the winter, the tree tomato takes a break during which it does not bloom and only grows a little.
A temperature of 5 degrees is completely sufficient in winter. During this time, only water when the root ball is almost dry. You are not allowed to fertilize at all during the winter break.
Before you bring the tree indoors, check the leaves and trunk for pests and diseases. These spread very quickly in the winter quarters and damage the plant.
