What to do if the leaves on clematis are yellow?
If clematis has yellow leaves, there is usually a nutrient deficiency. This can be remedied by regular fertilization with a potassium-rich preparation in the garden or special fertilizer in the bucket. Alternatively, compost, horn shavings and comfrey manure can be used as organic fertilizers. If the pH value is below 5, algae or vital lime should be added.
Yellowing leaves indicate nutrient deficiency
In order for a majestic clematis to develop its enormous biomass, it needs a balanced supply of nutrients. If there are defects here, it will initially react with yellow leaves. As they progress, these turn brown and fall off. Therefore, pay attention to this care:
- Fertilize clematis in the garden every 6-8 weeks with a potassium-concentrated preparation
- Fertilize clematis in the pot every 4 weeks from March to September with 20 grams of special fertilizer
- Alternatively, fertilize the plant organically every 1-2 weeks with compost, horn shavings and comfrey manure
- If the pH value is below 5, also administer algae or vital lime
