How should you optimally sprinkle the lawn?

Why is correct watering so important?
The roots of the grass only reach about 15 centimeters deep into the ground. However, especially in summer or after long dry periods, the water level drops so low that the roots cannot access the moisture.
When should you start watering the lawn?
When the grass starts to turn brown, it's almost too late to water. Although the lawn recovers, it takes quite a long time until it forms a green carpet again.
You should therefore start watering at the latest when the leaves appear limp and take on a blue-greenish color.
Watering the lawn properly – the best time to water it
Word has gotten around that it is harmful to water the lawn during the peak midday heat. The wet leaves would be burned by the strong sunlight. In addition, water consumption is then very high because most of the water evaporates and does not penetrate into the ground.
If possible, you should have your lawn watered with a lawn sprinkler early in the morning. If this is not possible, blast the area night, morning and evening.
Watering daily – yes or no?
Daily blasting with a little water is not enough. As a rule, the water does not seep deep enough into the ground. It is better if you only water every four days to once a week in the morning and evening, but then pour so much water that the moisture penetrates up to 15 centimeters deep into the soil.
As a rule of thumb, you can remember that in light soils you need ten to 15 liters of water per square meter to water the lawn properly. If the soil is very solid, you should expect between 15 and 20 liters of water.
Sandy soils only need to be watered every three to four days if there is sufficient water. For lawns on clayey soils, weekly irrigation is sufficient, as these soils retain water for longer.
Did you water enough?
This can be determined in two ways. Either you cut out a small piece of grass with the spade and see how moist the ground is. Simply put the sod back in.
