Just two to three leaves, a stem and a flower make up the snowdrop on the surface. This bulbous plant has a short growing season and is considered one of the first flowers to appear at the beginning of the year.
When is the best time to plant snowdrops?
The optimal planting time for snowdrop bulbs is in autumn, where they should be planted 6 to 10 cm deep, with the tip upwards and a minimum distance of 5 cm, in a shady or semi-shady location. Early snowdrops can be planted during their flowering period between late January and mid-February.
Plant in autumn or during flowering time
Snowdrops are different from most other plants, which are best planted in their dormant phase. Advance snowdrops from the hardware store or garden center should be planted when they are in bloom between the end of January and mid-February.
