What colors are there in calla flowers?
The calla flowers are available in different colors: from classic white to light yellow, apricot, pink to dark purple and almost black. They are suitable for various occasions such as weddings, funeral bouquets and as decorative cut flowers in vases.
Calla in many colors
In addition to the white-flowering calla plants, varieties with many bright colors are now commercially available. The color spectrum ranges from light yellow, apricot and pink to dark violet. There are even varieties like the Calla “Cantor” whose bracts appear almost black.
A two-tone variety with the beautiful name “Vermeer” is still quite new. Its bracts are white on the outside and have a deep purple color on the inside.
The white varieties look very decorative when the bulb protrudes from the cover leaves in a strong yellow.
Colored calla likes it a little warmer
The care requirements of colored calla varieties do not fundamentally differ from those of white varieties. Just like these, colorful species require a change of wetness and dryness.
However, the colored houseplants like it a little warmer. While the white varieties feel most comfortable at temperatures between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius, colorful species can be a little warmer at 18 to 22 degrees.

Calla can be cultivated not only as a houseplant in the house or on the terrace. In summer the bulbs can also be planted directly in the garden. However, since very few varieties are hardy, you have to dig them up in the fall and overwinter them indoors.
