The cycad stood beaming with joy in the apartment for months. But suddenly he looks sickly despite being cared for. He got yellow fronds and now the question arises: Why?
Why is my cycad getting yellow leaves and how do I save it?
Yellow leaves on the cycad can have various causes, such as substrate that is too moist or dry, over-fertilization, lack of nutrients, pests, unsuitable location, change of location, incorrect overwintering or too low humidity. To save the plant, care errors should be corrected and completely dried out fronds should be removed.
Reasons for yellow leaves
A frond turns yellow - there can be many reasons for this:
- Substrate is too moist/too dry
- Overfertilization/nutrient deficiency
- Infestation with pests
- unsuitable location
- Change location
- incorrect wintering
- too low humidity
As soon as a frond turns yellow, you should think through the care. If necessary, a repotting campaign is necessary, e.g. B. in the event of over-fertilization. If the errors are corrected quickly, there is a good chance that the cycad will recover.
Tips & Tricks
Cut off yellow fronds when they are completely dry. They don't regenerate.
