How often should lemon balm be watered?
The right amount of water for lemon balm varies depending on the age of the plant: Young lemon balms need regular watering, while older plants usually get by with natural rainwater. For potted plants, water should be done when the top 4-5 cm of the substrate is dry.

In the limited volume of a pot, lemon balm can hardly stretch out its roots in search of water. Older specimens are also watered regularly when the top 4-5 centimeters of the substrate have dried. A hard-and-fast schedule doesn't apply here, as the pot size and temperature determine the exact water requirement. This principle also applies to lemon balm as a houseplant.
