The Blue Gentian develops large, bell-shaped flowers up to five centimeters long, which are easier to find and pollinate by insects in their natural mountain habitat due to their striking shape and intense color. The flowering period usually begins in May.
The huge flowers of the blue gentian
In contrast to the flowers of white and yellow gentian varieties, the flowers of the blue gentian appear huge. They are bell-shaped and up to five centimeters long. This means they are often longer than the entire perennial, which is only ten centimeters high in total.
Due to its size and the barely visible stems, the blue color appears particularly intense.
The flowering period of the blue gentian usually begins in May, while other species develop flowers later.
