Männertreu is considered moderately easy to care for. It does require a lot of water and nutrient-rich soil, but otherwise no complicated care. By cutting back in the summer when the flowers are fading, you can encourage the blue lobelia to bloom a second time.
How to properly care for men's loy alty?
Männertreu care includes daily watering, twice a day during flowering, fertilizing every two weeks, protection from cold wind and plenty of sun. After the Ice Saints in May, young plants can be planted outdoors or on the sunny balcony.
Sowing Faithful to Men
Since men's faithful is very sensitive to frost and a warm germinator, it is best to sow it in pots or in a heated greenhouse. The ideal germination temperature is 16-18 °C, the seeds do not germinate below 15 °C.
Männertreu is also one of the light germinators. Therefore, cover the seeds with very little soil or avoid it altogether and only press the seeds lightly. During the germination period they need a consistently high level of humidity. After about one to two weeks the first little plants can be seen.

About twice a month, add some liquid fertilizer (€12.00 on Amazon) to the irrigation water. Nutrient requirements are particularly high during flowering.
True to men in winter
Men's loy alty is not frost hardy. Although it can overwinter in a cold greenhouse, it is usually only cultivated as an annual. This means that after flowering, the Male True is disposed of and sown again next year. This is much less complicated than overwintering.
