Although the Edellieschen is not considered hardy in this country, it is often planted in the garden or in a pot on the balcony for a season. What should you pay attention to?
When and how should you plant the noble lilies?
The Edellieschen should be planted in spring as soon as frost is no longer expected, ideally by mid/end of May. It prefers a sunny to partially shaded location, nutrient-rich and well-drained substrate and suitable plant partners such as hostas or ornamental grasses.
When will the Noble Lieschen be planted?
If frost is no longer expected in spring, the Edellieschen can be planted without any worries. It's best if you wait until mid/late May. This frost-sensitive plant also cannot tolerate night frosts.
Is a sunny or shady location a better choice?
The Edellieschen not only needs warmth, but also brightness and sunshine. But it can't cope with the direct midday sun. If it is exposed to the midday sun in summer, there is a risk that its leaves and flowers will burn.
Ideally, the location is sunny to partially shaded. A shady spot should be out of the question. There the Noble Lieschen hardly produces any flowers and grows more sparsely. A window sill should be chosen for culture in the room. On the balcony, the Edellieschen likes to face east or west.
Which planters are suitable?
If you don't plant your noble lily outdoors, for example in a bed or on the side of the path, you can cultivate it in pots, tubs, flower boxes or hanging baskets. In hanging baskets, a position on the middle level is optimal. Hanging flowers can be planted above and below.
Which planting partners are suitable for the Noble Lieches?
The Edellieschen looks effective next to plants that make its flowers shine even more, are structurally well embedded around it and have similar location requirements. This includes, for example, the following selection:

Which substrate is suitable?
In order not to have to carry out subsequent care and, above all, fertilization excessively, it is advisable to choose a nutrient-rich substrate. You should also choose humus-rich, loose and well-drained soil that can be kept slightly moist. For potted plants, conventional potting soil is sufficient (€10.00 on Amazon).
Tip
Impatiens New Guinea can be easily grown from seeds. You can harvest the seeds yourself from the end of August and sow them in spring (around mid-March).
