Is cinquefoil poisonous?
Cinquefoil is not poisonous and belongs to the rose family. There are different types that are safe for humans and animals. Some cinquefoil species are even used as medicinal plants and can be eaten in salads, soups or tea.
All species are non-poisonous
As a member of the rose family, cinquefoil is non-toxic. Animals are not at risk either. With the following species you can be sure that they do not contain any toxins:

- Goose Cinquefoil

- Creeping Cinquefoil
- Spring cinquefoil
- High cinquefoil
- Golden cinquefoil
Some species of cinquefoil, which are usually extremely easy to care for, are even often used as medicinal plants and eaten. They can be used internally and externally. For example, they help with diarrhea and inflammation and have a blood-purifying effect.
Tip
The leaves of cinquefoil taste sour. They are suitable for salads, soups and tea. The flowers can be harvested in May/June and, with their yellow color, are extremely decorative for serving dishes.
