An almost flake-like floating flower sits on a long stem. The characteristic blue to blue-purple flowers of the knapweed appear in May and with luck there may be a repeat bloom. But knapweed does not bloom equally well in every location.
Where should you plant a knapweed?
The ideal location for a knapweed is sunny and nutrient-rich, with well-drained, moderately moist, loamy soil. It can be planted in cottage gardens, roadsides, front gardens, herbaceous beds, house walls and fence areas. Avoid shady places.
The sunnier, the more blooming
The location for the knapweed can be in full sun. She feels in the best hands there. A partially shaded spot would be an acceptable compromise for them. It just shouldn't be planted in the shade. Basically: the less sun, the fewer flowers.
