The multifaceted Bromeliad family is home to sun and shade plants. Consequently, the location requirements differ in some details. However, when it comes to the general conditions, most species pull together.
Where should a bromeliad be placed?
The ideal location for bromeliads is a bright window seat with protection from direct midday sun, normal room temperatures of at least 14 degrees Celsius and a humidity of 60 percent or higher. In summer they can be placed on the balcony or terrace if the nighttime temperatures do not fall below 14 degrees.
General location conditions at a glance
Regardless of whether you are cultivating a pineapple, tillandsia or other type of bromeliad. The following general conditions should be ensured at the location so that the exotic beauties feel comfortable:
- A bright window seat with protection from the blazing midday sun
- Normal room temperatures, not below 14 degrees Celsius
- Humidity of 60 percent and higher
It follows from these premises that a bromeliad likes to stay on the balcony and terrace throughout the summer. The temperatures must not fall below 14 degrees, even at night. We therefore recommend not considering moving outdoors until mid-June at the earliest.
