When and how should you repot a fan palm?
Repotting a fan palm is ideal in early spring. Choose a tall, sturdy pot with a drainage hole and drainage. Fill the new pot with substrate, remove the palm tree from the old pot, carefully remove old substrate, trim roots if necessary, place the palm tree in the new pot, press the substrate lightly and then water.

The planter must have a sufficiently large drainage hole. Place drainage made of gravel or pottery shards in the bottom of the pot. Then no waterlogging can develop.

Tip
You can buy substrate for fan palms at garden centers. But you can also mix it yourself from compost soil, gravel, expanded clay and sand. It is important that the mixture is nice and loose so that no waterlogging can develop.
