The better you choose the location for your coffee plant, the easier it is to care for. While old plants tolerate direct sun well, young coffee plants prefer light shade. However, if the coffee plant is too dark, it will have brown leaves.
Which location is best for a coffee plant?
The ideal location for a coffee plant (Coffea arabica) is warm and bright, with young plants preferring light shade and older plants tolerating direct sun. In summer the plant can be grown outdoors as long as it is protected from the wind. If there is too little light, brown leaves may appear.
The Coffea arabica is very suitable as a houseplant. Room temperatures between 20 °C and 25 °C are almost ideal. In winter it can be a little cooler. In summer, an outdoor space is an excellent alternative, as long as it is sheltered from the wind and warm.
The ideal location in brief:
- warm
- bright
- Young plants not in the blazing sun
- Old plants like full sun
- Seeds and cuttings: moist and warm
- likes to be outside in summer
- brown leaves in too little light
Tip
Do not place your young coffee plant in the blazing sun, it will only tolerate it as it gets older. She should also get used to it slowly.
