Back in 2004, Muskauer Park was included in the UNESCO list as a joint German-Polish world cultural heritage site. Hermann Prince von Pückler-Muskau was inspired by English garden culture during his travels and began to create this landscape park in 1817. With a total area of 750 hectares, the Muskauer Park, which we would like to introduce to you in this article, is the largest European facility in the English style.
What is Fürst-Pückler-Park Bad Muskau?

Location and directions:
Bad Muskau is located in the Neisse valley, right on the Polish border. The park picturesquely encloses the town, which has a population of 4,000. If you are traveling by car, you will find plenty of paid parking spaces at the Neißedamm. From here the route to the landscape park is well signposted.
Muskauer Park is an ideal destination for cycling tours, as you can reach it via several supra-regional cycle paths along the Neisse.
If you would like to travel by train, first go to Weißwasser, from where a regional bus (bus line 250) will take you to Bad Muskau. From the “Kirchplatz” stop it is only a few steps to the park. Alternatively, you can use the forest railway from April to October.
Description:
A third of the approximately 830 hectare landscape park is located in German territory. The larger part of the park is located east of the Neisse on the Polish side. It is divided into several differently structured areas, which are linked to each other by curved paths and visual axes. The Neisse with its natural course and an artificially created side arm, called “Hermannsneiße”, fit wonderfully into the complex.
The old castle with the tropical and cavalier house, the bathing and mountain park and the orangery are among the visitor magnets. You can reach the Polish part of the park via the historic English Bridge, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times. Treat yourself to a Fürst-Pückler “Lody”, an ice cream speci alty named after the prince.
A special experience is spending the night in the extensive area. Some buildings have lovingly furnished holiday apartments where you can stay. If you don't want to cook yourself, you can dine in one of the restaurants integrated into the park and take in the beauty of the park landscape.
Tip
The Muskauer Park is a landscape gardening work of art whose landscape images are well thought out. It's worth booking one of the regular guided tours with expert explanations.
