A garden plant whose flowers radiate an exotic flair, which impresses with its extraordinary taste, which has attractive foliage during the summer and which also changes color wonderfully in the autumn and is also hardy: the Asimina Triloba, or Indian banana in German, is waiting for you with all of these great properties. Lovers of the plant can rejoice because there are different varieties that harmonize wonderfully with each other.
Which Asimina Triloba varieties are particularly recommended?

closer.
Asimina Triloba “Prima”
This self-fruitful Indian banana produces medium to large fruits that contain relatively few seeds. It has yellowish-white flesh, aromatic and tastes like a mixture of banana, mango and pineapple with a delicate vanilla note. Creamy and soft, it can be spooned out raw.
Asimina Triloba “Sunflower”
This new variety from the USA produces very large fruits with attractive yellow flesh. Self-fertile, it bears very aromatic fruits even when it is young. “Sunflower” is a refinement that, like almost all Indian bananas, survives European winters without any damage without special protection.
Asimina Triloba “Peterson Pawpaws Shenadoah”
Also a new breed from the USA. However, it is not self-fertile and requires a second Indian banana in its surroundings to produce abundant fruit. “Shenadoah” is a favorite at American farmers markets because it produces highly aromatic fruits with a low seed content. The relatively firm, light flesh tastes creamy-sweet.
Asimina Triloba “Peterson Pawpaws Susquehanna”
This Indian banana impresses with its very large fruits that also taste heavenly sweet. They have a relatively firm texture and are therefore ideal as an unusual addition to fruit salads.
Asiminia Triloba “Peterson Pawpaws Wabash”
This variety from the USA also delights fans of exotic fruits with its excellent fruit quality. The flesh of this non-self-fruitful Indian banana is yellow-orange in color, creamy and tastes sweet and aromatic.
Tip
Since Indian bananas only ripen from the beginning of October, you should place the attractive exotic plants in a warm, sunny location. During the summer months they can easily tolerate high temperatures. Since they can grow quite high and form a relatively closed crown with a diameter of up to 2.50 meters, they are ideal for shading your favorite seat in the garden and giving it a very special flair.
