Geraniums or pelargoniums, as the popular flowers are correctly called, can be found on many balconies and often in flower beds. Their lush, long-lasting flowers and dense leaves make the plants a real feast for the eyes. So that you can enjoy the numerous flowers for a long time, you should provide your geraniums with enough water.
How should you water geraniums correctly?
Geraniums require regular watering, ideally in the morning before sunrise and in the evening after sunset. Use warmed, stale water and avoid waterlogging. Always water the soil and distribute the water evenly around the plant.
Water geraniums correctly – this is how it works
Your geraniums will stay he althy and bloom persistently if you follow the following rules when watering:
- water if possible in the morning before sunrise
- water twice a day in high heat
- then also in the evening after sunset
- never water at midday
- never water on the leaves
- always only water the soil
- Never water geraniums in just one place, always distribute water all around
- do not water with cold water
- use stale, warmed water
- Avoid waterlogging
Tip
Even after a summer rain, there may still be a need for water, especially for balcony flowers, because there simply isn't enough moisture on the ground. The large leaves of geraniums always hold a lot of water, which is why you should use a finger test to determine the actual requirement and water if necessary.
