With its compact growth and the abundance of delicate flowers, the Mannestreu has found its way into our hearts. It now decorates many balcony boxes, pots and beds. Find out which companion plants show it off best.
Which plants can you combine with men?
Männertreu can be combined in the bed with rock alyssum, Patagonian verbena, daisies and scented stonewort. In the balcony box it harmonizes with hanging petunias, geraniums, nasturtiums and Cape baskets. Pay attention to similar growth habits, location requirements and flowering times.
What factors should you consider when combining men's loy alty?
For a combination worth seeing with men's loy alty, you should definitely consider the following factors:
- Flower color: blue, white, light purple or pink
- Flowering time: May to September
- Location requirements: sunny, humus- and nutrient-rich soil
- Growth height: up to 35 cm
It's best to combine the Male True, also known as Blue Lobelia, with plants that also have their blooms all summer long.
The Male Faithful prefers sunny and nutrient-rich locations. Your planting partners should feel at least as comfortable in such a location.
With a maximum height of 35 cm and a generally over-leaning habit, the Mannestreu does not fit in with all other plants. The combination plants should therefore be tailored to the growth.
Combine men faithfully in the bed
The cool flower colors of the Male True can create wonderful contrasts when combined with the warm colors of other plants. Blue varieties look phenomenal next to yellow or red companion plants. However, the overall picture appears calmer if you combine similar flower colors with each other. Basically, all plants that bloom profusely and are either the same size or slightly larger are suitable for the Mannestreu.
Optimal planting partners for the men's faithful include:
- Rock Alyssum
- Steinkraut
- Daisies
- Alant
- Scented Stones
- Patagonian Verbena
- balloon flower
Combine men's loy alty with rock alyssum
Both the rock alyssum and the male faithful like a sunny location. They both grow in a cushion-forming, compact manner and are content with a low stature. As a team, they create wonderful contrasts in their surroundings, especially when planted in the foreground of the bed. For this combination, choose blue to violet male faithful, as this contrasts the sunny yellow rock alyssum most beautifully.
Combine men's loy alty with Patagonian verbena
Patagonian verbena also suits men's loy alty. However, since it grows larger, it should be placed behind its planting partner in the bed. From there it can't shade the men's loy alty, but actually ensures that it really comes to life visually.
Combine men faithfully in the balcony box or pot
Men's Treaty is particularly popular for balcony boxes, but also for pots and hanging baskets. It goes well with plants that also bloom profusely and require a sunny spot. Whether typical balcony flowers such as geraniums and petunias or something more extravagant - Mannestreu makes friends with many companion plants.
- Geraniums
- Nasturtium
- Hanging Petunias
- Cape basket
- Blue Daisies
- Angelonia
Combine men's faithfulness with hanging petunias
The hanging petunias look most advantageously positioned at the edge of the balcony box. The Herrentreu finds its place right next to it. They are both rich in flowers all summer long. If you like it flashy, combine two different colors together. Otherwise, choose a similar color and enjoy the picturesque overhanging image that the two create in the balcony box.
