Beautiful to look at and good for the ecological balance - ponds are a popular element in many gardens and bring variety to garden design. We show how two ponds can be connected to create an even more attractive ambience.
How can I connect a liner pond with a prefabricated pond?
In order to connect a liner pond with a prefabricated pool (pond bowl), thepond bowl is arranged above the liner pond. The water then runs down and is pumped back with apump. Alternatively, a connection to a stream is also possible.
What steps are necessary for the connection?
The pond basin above the liner pond, often made of GRP or PVC, is connected to the liner pond with a liner. Please note our instructions:
- Pond linerwith special glue or double-sided adhesive tape on the pond bowlglue.
- When attaching, make sure that the film is pulled up 10 cm at the edges.
- Glue the film to the inside of the pond bowl. Important: When gluing, make sure that no water gets under the film.
- Finally, apowerful pump is installed in the foil pond.
How does the connection to a stream work?
If the liner pond and the prefabricated pond are to be connected to a stream, it is particularly nice if thetwo ponds are at different levelsThe water can come from the upper garden pond, which is often decorated with stones Then, when the water level is sufficient, it flows over the overflow and a small waterfall into the lower pond and is transported back up again by apump. Of course, the more pumping power the pump has to produce, the higher the power consumption - for example, if there is no significant gradient.
What materials do I need for the connection?
In order to connect two ponds, the following materials are required:
- Tear-resistantPond Liner
- Special glue or double-sided adhesive tape
- Pump
- Hose
The stream for the connection can consist of a ready-made shell of the appropriate size or can be made yourself and lined waterproof with pond liner.
What are the advantages of connecting two ponds?
The “flowing water” of the stream or the connection itself between the two ponds in combination with suitable plants at the edge of the pond creates a kind ofwater filter - dirt is filtered out and that Water is enriched with oxygen. This enrichment is particularly recommended if fish swim in one or both ponds. It can be further promoted by installing small barrages or rapids. The garden also looks very inviting thanks to two connected ponds.
Tip
Select the right plants
Pond plants are essential for a functioning ecosystem. Depending on the zone, different plants are available. Easy-care grasses such as miscanthus and pampas grass are ideal for the bank zone; pikeweed, pennywort, loosestrife and marsh marigold, for example, feel at home in the swamp zone. In the deep water zone with a water depth of at least 60 cm, perennial aquatic plants such as the water lily, the milfoil and the water knotweed thrive.
