Is verbena poisonous to humans?
Verbene is not poisonous in small quantities and can be consumed as an herb. It contains verbenaline, which can be harmful in high doses. The plant is even valued for its he alth properties, such as fatigue, gastrointestinal problems and inflammation of the mouth and throat.
No general answer, but rather: The dose makes the poison
The verbena, which is usually annual in this country, is edible as an herb. However, you should not overdo it with consumption. Verbena contains verbenaline, a glycoside that is harmful in high doses. Among other things, it is responsible for their bitter taste.
