Which location is ideal for the Cape basket?
The cape basket prefers a sunny, warm, wind-protected location, such as south-facing balconies, terraces, herbaceous beds or borders. The soil should be sandy-loamy, well-drained, dry to fresh, humus-rich and nutrient-rich. Partial shade is tolerable, but full shade is not.
A Child of the Sun
This perennial native to Africa loves sunny, warm places. If necessary, it can also thrive in partial shade. It just can't cope in the shade. It is also advisable to choose a place protected from the wind for the cape basket. For example, boxes and other planters on south-facing balconies and terraces, perennial beds, borders and pathsides are ideal.
Soil requirements: fresh, permeable, nutrient-rich
