Which location do climbing roses prefer?
The ideal location for a climbing rose is sunny to light partial shade, preferably facing east or west and airy. It is important that the roots of the climbing rose are protected from direct sunlight and shaded, especially at midday.
Full sun location is not always the best choice
In principle, climbing roses prefer a sunny place and produce more flowers the more light they receive - but a location in full sun can also become a trap. In addition to light, the sensitive plants also need air and a relatively high amount of moisture. Locations in full sun, on the other hand, are often both too dry and too hot, so that not only leaves and shoots risk burning, but also diseases such as powdery mildew. The ideal location for climbing roses is:
