What types of record sheets are there?

There are several varieties of leaf leaf, including chestnut leaf leaf (Rodgersia aesculifolia), pinnate leaf leaf (Rodgersia pinnata), stalk leaf leaf (Rodgersia podophylla) and elder leaf leaf leaf (Rodgersia sambucifolia). Each species contains numerous remarkable breedings.

Chestnut leaf leaf

Rodgersia aesculifolia is called the chestnut leaf in botany. It is hardy, like all other species. It originally grows in forests, bushes and meadows in parts of Japan and China.

Its name comes from its chestnut-colored to bronze-colored leaves. This species shows green-white flowers in June. They can be admired for about a month. Overall, the chestnut leaf reaches a height of between 100 and 150 cm.

Pinnate Leaf Leaf

Another representative is the pinnate leaf, also called Rodgersia pinnata. Its height is between 90 and 120 cm and in its original form it presents white flowers in the month of June.

Here are the best varieties with their most striking features:

  • 'Superba': pink flowers, fan-shaped leaves
  • 'Bloody Mary': dark red leaves, crimson flowers, tolerates shade excellently
  • 'Chocolate Wings': chocolate-colored shoots, later turning green, pink flowers with dark red eyes
  • ‘White Selection’: creamy white flowers

Pedunculated leaflet

The stalked leaf is also visually appealing and is suitable as an ornamental plant for the garden. It is called Rodgersia podophylla by experts and, like the other species, comes from China and Japan. Its height varies between 130 and 150 cm and in its wild form it has creamy white flowers that open in June.

These varieties are known:

  • 'Rotlaub': bright red foliage, brown-red shoots, creamy white flowers
  • 'Emerald': emerald green leaves, tall stems, creamy white flowers
  • 'Pagoda': strikingly large, jagged leaves, white flowers, wine-red foliage in autumn

Elderberry Leaf Leaf

There is also the elderberry leaf (Rodgersia sambucifolia). Its leaves look like those of the elder and it reaches a height of between 90 and 120 cm. Its flowers are white in the wild and appear in June. The 'Rothaut' variety can often be found in stores. It is characterized by light pink flowers, dark red stems and dark red leaves.

Tip

Rodgersia nepalensis is the fifth species. However, this specimen is little known and is rather rare in the wild and can only be found at high altitudes.
