The alyssum, which is also known as alyssum and alyssum, impresses with its ground-covering growth and its sulfur-yellow flowers. How do you plant it correctly and is it also suitable for container cultivation?
Where and when should you plant alyssum?
Alyssum should be planted in a sunny location with sandy, humus-rich, loamy, calcareous and well-drained soil. Locations in rock gardens, dry stone walls or balcony boxes are ideal. Sow the alyssum indoors from March or outdoors from April.
Which location does the alyssum like?
The hardy stone herb prefers to grow in a sunny location. If it gets between 4 and 6 hours of sun a day, it is almost completely happy.
If necessary, it can also be planted in partial shade. You should not plant it in the shade. There it hardly produces any flowers and no scent is noticeable.
Where can you use the alyssum?
You can use the alyssum in many locations because it takes up little space. Good possible uses include:

How and when is the alyssum sown?
From March you can sow the alyssum at home. It can be sown outside from April. Remember that earlier sowing is not recommended. The young plants are extremely sensitive to frost.
The seeds are lightly covered with soil and kept moist. They germinate best at temperatures between 15 and 18 °C. After the Ice Saints, you can move the hopefully well-cared-for young plants outside if you prefer.
Tip
When planting several specimens, make sure to maintain a minimum distance of 20 cm between them!
