Lungwort care includes regular watering, especially in direct sunlight, as well as fertilizing with a complete fertilizer such as compost or manure. After flowering, cut the perennial back to the ground in May and fall. Lungwort does not need winter protection outdoors.
How much water do you need and how often should you water?
In general, lungwort, which originally grows in deciduous and mixed deciduous forests, has a high water requirement. This is especially true if it is in direct sunlight. In shady locations, the water requirement is lower due to a lower evaporation rate.
The earth should not dry out. At the same time, the substrate must not be dripping wet. Lungwort is no better affected by congested moisture than by dryness. Therefore, water the plant regularly when it is in the pot. Outdoors, watering is necessary in dry times. The soil should be kept moist. Usually it is enough to water the plant once or twice a week.
Does lungwort need fertilizer?
Lungwort's nutrient requirements are also high rather than low. Complete fertilizers such as compost are ideal. Fertilize the plant with compost (€23.00 on Amazon) or another fertilizer that seems suitable in early spring! If you are growing in pots, you need an appropriate liquid fertilizer.
