Common beeches in the garden are certainly something very special. If you have enough space, you can contribute to environmental protection and a he althy garden climate with a European beech tree. Whether you plant a copper beech as a hedge or a single tree – the best time to plant is autumn.
When is the ideal planting time for copper beeches?
The best time to plant copper beeches is autumn, especially from mid-October to early December. However, you can also plant in spring, between March and April. Choose a frost-free and ideally moist day for planting. Container-grown trees can be planted almost all year round, except in mid-summer.

Plant beeches in containers all year round
If you buy a copper beech in a container, you can plant it at any time. However, midsummer is not advisable as a planting time as there is a risk of the roots drying out. But if you water frequently - twice a day in hot weather - you can also plant the copper beech in summer.
Water well after planting
The roots of the common beech must never dry out completely. After planting, water the tree very well and don't forget to water it more frequently in the next few weeks.
But make sure that there is no waterlogging. It causes the roots to rot.
Tip
Think very carefully about where you plant a copper beech, because transplanting it later is almost impossible. The trees become very old and very tall and sprawling. A planting distance of 10 to 15 meters from buildings, sidewalks and neighboring properties should be maintained.
