What types of ranunculus are there?
Ranunculus varieties are divided into Turkish, Persian, French and peony-flowered ranunculus. They vary in flower size, abundance and colors: white, cream, yellow, orange, red, rose, pink and purple. All ranunculus are poisonous and prefer sunny, moist locations.
No variety names
In the world of ranunculus there are no specific, creative variety names like there are with roses, girl's eyes, hydrangeas and the like. It's just a ranunculus. Most of the time in stores it says in front of or behind what color it blooms. That's it.

If you want to be more precise, you can also refer to the common ranunculus as Asian ranunculus or florist's ranunculus. Or you can divide the ranunculus into the following subcategories:

Turkish ranunculus features large and densely filled flowers. These specimens bloom earlier than others. Persian ranunculus are also large, but only single to semi-double. The French ranunculus, on the other hand, are loosely filled, as are the peony-flowered ranunculus, which have the longest flowering period of all ranunculus.
Ranunculus for every taste
There are now ranunculus to suit everyone's taste. There are large-flowered and small-flowered specimens, double, semi-double and unfilled specimens and then there are notable differences in color. Breeders have managed to breed ranunculus in countless colors. There are single-colored, two-colored and multicolored ranunculus plants.
The color palette starts with white and goes through cream. Then come light yellow and golden yellow. Followed by orange and red, pink and pink and the darkest shade: violet. Spaces in between are also not uncommon. There are also ranunculus with orange-green or white-pink flowers.
Characteristics that all ranunculus have in common
Most ranunculus plants grow up to 50 cm high and have 1 to 3 flowers when they bloom. They are all poisonous. In this country, flowering begins outdoors in May and can last until July. The foliage is pinnate and green. All ranunculus like sunny and moist locations.
