To plant scented roses correctly, choose a sunny location, deep and nutrient-rich substrate and maintain planting distances equal to half the growth width. Avoid neighborhood odor disturbances for the best scent development.
What location do scented roses need?
Scented roses are basically not planted in any other location than so-called shrub and noble roses. In order to develop the best scent, a sunny location is the first choice. In partial shade the flowers smell less intense.
Furthermore, if possible, a location in an airy but covered location is preferable. Otherwise, rainwater would dull the scent somewhat and damage the appearance of the flowers. For example, open locations on house walls and under roof eaves are well suited.
