If the Zamioculcas zamiifolia or Lucky Feather suddenly gets brown leaves, there could be a whole range of reasons behind it. Incorrect water supply, too much or too little fertilizer, dry heating air or temperatures that are too high: All of these pathological changes can usually be eliminated with better care or a different location.
Why does the Zamioculcas get brown leaves?
Brown leaves on a Zamioculcas zamiifolia (lucky feather) can be caused by incorrect watering, lack of nutrients or heating air. Avoid overwatering, water every two weeks in summer and every four weeks in winter.
Do not water Zamioculcas too often
One of the most common problems with the lucky feather is overwatering. Zamioculcas is a succulent plant, i.e. H. it stores water in its rhizomes and in its fleshy leaves. Overwatering causes the leaves to turn brown and dry out and the shoots to show stunted growth. The substrate, on the other hand, often smells musty. Pot out affected plants, cut away mushy, brownish roots and place the Zamie in fresh substrate. Also ensure good drainage.
Tip
In summer it is enough to water the Zamioculcas about every two weeks, in winter it only needs water every four weeks.
