How should you properly water a hemp palm?
When watering the hemp palm, you should make sure that the root ball does not dry out and that no waterlogging occurs. Only water when the surface of the substrate has dried out to a depth of several centimeters and use low-lime water such as rainwater or soft tap water.
Do not water the hemp palm too much or too little
The root ball of a hemp palm must never dry out completely. However, if you water too much, waterlogging will develop, which will damage the roots.
Always water when the surface of the substrate has dried out to a depth of several centimeters. Do the finger test!
Immediately pour off any excess water from the saucer. Care for the hemp palm in the pot, leave out saucers or planters so that rainwater can drain away and not build up.
Use low-lime water
Water hemp palms with rainwater or soft tap water if possible. The hemp palm doesn't get too much lime in the irrigation water.
Tip
A hemp palm does not take a break from growth in winter. It just grows slower because it lacks direct sunlight during the dark season. It therefore needs to be watered regularly even during the winter.
